Activities

Each person at Noel has many opportunities to get connected in the life of the church. Annual activities are highlighted below.

Highland Community Garden
Noel and Highland Area Partnership are cosponsoring a community garden on the corner of Herdon and Shephens Streets for the neighborhood around the church. The garden will be subdivided into sections that groups or individuals will adopt to work with neighbors and Highland residents to plant vegetables for harvesting. Coming up will be work days to develop the garden plots to be ready for planting this spring. If you are interested in the community garden project, please contact Rachel Scott or Gif Gillen at 318-221-5207.

Highland Mardi Gras Parade
The parade route passes by Noel Church on a Sunday afternoon in February. Our members and neighborhood friends enjoy hot dogs and cold drinks while we watch the parade and catch beads. This parade is smaller and more geared to a family environment.

Mother's Day
Everyone receives a token gift honoring Mothers as they arrive at both worship services.

Fourth of July Celebration
Members are asked to wear red, white and blue on the day when we have an old fashioned celebration serving hamburgers, hot dogs and lemonade. We compete in a delicious, homemade ice cream contest and participate in festivities including singing patriotic songs and enjoying a special performance by the Noel staff “Boomwhackers.” Everyone receives either flags or flag pins at worship service.

Back to Faith Meal
At the end of August, a meal is served after church for everyone to enjoy while they sign up for fall activities including Bible studies, small groups, Sunday School classes and programs for children and youth.

Taste of Christmas
After the Christmas Masterworks music program, a variety of decorated tables and holiday foods are provided by Sunday School classes and other groups in Fellowship Hall. Hot cider and coffee are offered to persons enjoying the delicious food. This event is usually the last Sunday in November or the first Sunday in December.
